Subhajit Saha

Subhajit Saha (he/him/his) is a senior disability rights coordinator at Human Rights Watch. He works to mainstream disability rights within the larger human rights framework, advocates for broader ratification and implementation of the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, and monitors legal reform in the context of disability rights.

Subhajit contributes to cutting-edge research and advocacy on a wide-range of disability rights issues, including accessibility, economic insecurity, impacts of climate change and technology, institutionalization, and refugees and migrants rights in armed conflict and other crisis settings. He is deeply committed to the full inclusion of persons with disabilities and leads internal accessibility initiatives (including digital accessibility) and revamps various internally-facing processes, including project management streams and recruitments.

Subhajit previously served as the Co-Chair of the Civil Society Youth Representatives Steering Committee at the United Nations Department of Global Communications to uplift the voices of civil society youth (ages 18-32) within intergovernmental processes. Recognizing that young people bring valuable ideas, passion, innovation, along with unique perspectives and experiences to the United Nations, he and his team informed and better equipped young people to interact within civil society spaces and at all levels of decision making. He co-drafted the Gyeongju Youth Declaration, the inaugural youth-led outcome document produced at an UN conference and "We the Future" at the succeeding civil society conference, both of which contribute to the UN’s #Youth2030 Strategy.

Subhajit holds a bachelor’s degree in Political Science from the City University of New York - Hunter College. He speaks Bengali, English, French, and Hindi/Urdu, and is based in New York City.
