Each year, Human Rights Watch publishes more than 100 reports and briefings on human rights conditions in some 90 countries. On this page, you can find information about Human Rights Watch research on Norway. Human Rights Watch works closely with Norwegian actors on a wide range of human rights issues including some of Norway’s flagship foreign policy objectives. For example, we engage Norwegians in our efforts to protect education, global health, and the environment; and to limit dangerous weaponry and abuses linked to economic activity. In this, we interact closely with political, NGO, media, and private actors sharing our research and policy recommendations.

Norway’s Football Association president Lise Klaveness has criticized FIFA & Qatar on human rights grounds.

“The migrant workers injured or families of those who died in the build-up to the World Cup must be cared for.

FIFA, all of us, must take all necessary measures to really implement change.”

Thousands of migrant workers have died of unexplained causes, including those building the World Cup infrastructure.

Football associations, players and fans should demand action from FIFA & Qatar to defend human rights.

FIFA World Cup 2022 is built on human rights abuses.
