Niger
Armed Islamist groups - including Boko Haram and groups affiliated with the Islamic State in the Greater Sahara (ISGS) - have expanded their operations in Niger's western and southeastern regions. In response to their attacks, Nigerien security forces have demonstrated inconsistent regard for human rights and have been implicated in serious abuses against civilians.
