Amr Magdi is a senior researcher in the Middle East and North Africa division. He holds a postgraduate diploma in Human Rights and Civil Society, and a bachelor’s degree in Medicine and Surgery (MBBCH), both from Cairo University, Egypt. He is completing a master’s degree in Middle Eastern Studies from Lund University, Sweden. Before joining Human Rights Watch, he worked as the director of research at the Arab Network for Human Rights Information in Cairo and as a freelance journalist for several Egyptian and international outlets.
